Rocky Mountain Vertex 30 3 month review.

It’s been 3 months since I picked up my Vertex 30 and I thought that I’d talk about the pros and cons.

Pros: The hydraulic disc brakes are stunning. In both the dry and the wet they stop me on a dime. The Shimano kit group which is a combo of XT and Deore, shifts smoothly with just one issue. Sometimes under heavy load dropping from the big ring to the granny gear, the chain will drop. This is bit scary sometimes, but managable with smarter shifting. The frame is nice and light and soaks up some of the little bumps the nasty roads offer.

Cons: The bouncy Gran Fondo 2 fork. This may be a short coming with me. I had the pressure set to high, so I wasn’t using about 1.5 inches of travel. Also, the chain dropping issue I outlined above.

Overall, it’s hotness.

And since I have a hard time not buying stuff, I picked up some new gloves.
