The Horseshoe Tavern on Queen St. W., Feb. 11, 2008

If you really want to see what people mean when they say “an intimate show”, you have to go see a band play at the Horseshoe Tavern. It’s the kind of place that looks like somebody’s basement, with a floor that holds a few hundred at best, and a stage that looks like it can barely hold all of the band’s gear. There are no roadies to set up equipment, no security to keep people from climbing onto stage; just the faint echoes of a million songs played by a thousand bands that came through on the way to becoming something.

SVN ignore directories - so I remember. 0

I often forget how to tell Subversion to ignore things, so I’m adding it here so I don’t forget.

$ svn propset svn:ignore dirToIgnore .
$ svn ci -m “Removing dirToIgnore from version control.”
$ svn commit
$ svn st

That’s how players play!

Second Cup Green Tea Latte, not so much. 0

I take my coffee and tea black, so venturing out into the world to fancy-pants drinks I was apprehensive.

The Green Tea Latte I had was horribly sweet. I’ll be back to black coffee and leave these lattes to those with better resolve.

Movies I Like To Watch 3

In my annual attempt to watch all the major nominees prior to the Academy Awards being doled out, Ty and I watched Michael Clayton last night. I will preface this by saying that the trailer was uninspiring and I had very little interest in this movie until it received 7 nominations. SEVEN!! Also, although I like George Clooney, I’ve never really understood the legions of Clooney-obsessed fans out there. Anyway, in this film he is pure charisma and is absolutely magnetic. The story is intriguing and with very little “action” it managed to keep us glued to the screen. Great movie - Definitely not as strong as No Country for Old Men, but still very good.

Also, currently watching High Fidelity. Loving it and feel it would be a great double feature with one of my all time favourites - Empire Records. All part of my secret desire to work in a record store.

CrossFit: Feb 17 / 2008 - I may be a masochist. 0

I may be addicted to the discomfort CrossFit affords me.

I followed up my 305# deadlift with 5 rounds of:
- 15 75# Sumo High Pulls
- 20 24inch box jump
- 25 20# Ball Slams

in 15:02.

It burns.

PS3, the super expensive casual game machine. 0

I’ve finally had to face facts, I’m a casual gamer. There I said it. No longer do I have the time to grind through an RPG or complete 100% of any other game.

I’d like to call myself a hardcore casual gamer though, if I’m going to sit down for 15-30 minutes I’d like to play a game that is hard enough to be challenging.
