    Setanta: One month in: disappointing

So far I’ve been a bit let down by Setanta. Mainly due to one reason, they can’t seem to tell me what’s on.

Tonight at 8:00pm was a good example:
Bell ExpressVu listing: Manchester United vs Middlesbrough
Setanta Canada Website: Bolton vs Aston Villa
Actually on TV: Derby vs Everton

    Three sources, all different.

So far Setanta’s attention to detail has not been on par with the cost of the channel.

There is supposed to be TheScore2 coming that should be specializing in Football, Cricket and Rugby. I hope they’re a real competitor for Setanta, then maybe they’d stop sucking.

Setanta on Bell ExpressVu Canada round 3

I call Bell yesterday regarding Setanta. Apparently, they’re still negotiating the deal. I’m not optimistic that it will be available for this weekend. The August 2nd Remote Control is more optimistic than I am.

We’re missing a few good matchups:
    - Sunderland at Tottenham
    - ManU at Reading on Sunday
    - Chelsea at Birmingham on Sunday

The Score lucked out and got West Ham at ManCity – which will be a boring game.

Setanta on Bell ExpressVu Canada round 2

The Star printed an article about Setanta getting the rights to pretty much every EPL game this year.

So it looks like if you want to watch the EPL you need Setanta. Apparently, it’s $15 a month.

Setanta coming to Canada via Bell ExpressVU

I emailed Setanta regarding availability in Canada and they have an announcement mid-August. Odd that’s about the time the English Premier League is set to start.

Hot! Now I can drop Fox Sports World.

    Update!!!111one

TUF wrap up / CrossFit Test

Sunday went better for MMV (ya, my tongue is out, so what?), 1-1 for the day. A loss to Big Hammers and a loss avenged against Quicksand.
Much better flow, much better defense. Here are the results.

This morning was our CrossFit fitness test. We’re setting this as a benchmark and we’ll do this same workout at the end of Bootcamp for comparison.

    The workout was:
8 intervals (20s work, 10s rest) of the following 4 exercises:
    - Jumping Pullups
    - Wall Ball (12lbs Medicine Ball)
    - Ball Slams (12lbs Ball)
    - Box Jumps (I used a 10 inch Box due to the ultimate tournament)

I don’t remember my numbers, but all were above 80 and the jumping pullups number was 109. This may all be a lie though, as I don’t remember. :)

I’m in! (in touring ultimate that is)

I was selected for a touring team under the Ultimate Experience. Hell yes. This should be a great experience, we have a tournament this coming weekend.

Man, I should get in shape then.

    Taking it’s toll.

I picked up a knock on my left foot due to the sheer amount of Ultimate I’ve been playing due to tryouts. Open Tryouts and Mixed (Monster) this past weekend.

    Hopefully I make a team.

    TorontoFC vs. New England Revolution.

I’d like to see TorontoFC play a 4-4-2 instead of a 3-5-2. We seem to be getting pulled apart as our wide midfielders aren’t getting back far enough to help out.
I’d prefer to see another dedicated defender.

    Greg Sutton, again, played superbly.

Additionally, someone fire the TV announcers for the New England Revolution. No cares about your daughters learning to play soccer. No one. Shut the hell up. And shouldn’t you be impartial? Instead of rooting for the Revolution? Jackasses.

    I sent this to feedback@mlsnet.com:

I was disappointed that the TV commentators for the TorontoFC at New England Revolution were clearly biased towards the Revolution.

I would expect that impartiality would be a requirement for announcers.

    Thanks,
    Tyler

Announcers are like politicians. They can pretty much say what they like. I mean, like, how boring would it be if they just stuck to monotones and stats the whole game, eh? It is the d*** referees that need to be impartial!! :-)

Jim, I’m with you on the refs, but I still think the announcers should be less of the homers they are.

    A massive thumping. Massive.

7 – 1 for Manchester over Roma. Stunning game.

That’s two English teams through as Chelsea topped Valencia as well. Liverpool can make it through today (and probably will). So three of the four teams in the semis will be English.

CrossFit: fitness at the next level.

Laura bought me a membership to CrossFit Toronto for my birthday. From all that I’ve read about it, it seems like fitness at an entirely different level.

This will be great as I attempt to tour in Ultimate this year. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, as tryouts start this weekend.
