    OPT – WODS and Philosophy

James Fitzgerald, or OPT has he is known in CrossFit/Fitness circles maintains a blog with an interesting set of workouts.

Recently, he added a quote that really resonated with me:

    The 10 most important words:
I won’t wait for others to take the first step.
    The 9 most important words:
If it is to be, it’s up to me.
    The 8 most important words:
If not me, who? If not now, when?
    The 7 most important words:
Let me take a shot at it.
    The 6 most important words:
I will not pass the buck.
    The 5 most important words:
    You can count on me.
    The 4 most important words:
    It IS my job!
    The 3 most important words:
    Just do it!
    The 2 most important words:
    I will.
    The most important word:
    We

There is no attribution, in fact, every site I find the quote on offers no attribution. Nevertheless, it’s an excellent message.

    iPhone application for #CrossFit

Roboboogie Studios has been working on an iPhone application dedicated to logging CrossFit workouts.

I’ve been crossfitting since May of 2007 when Laura got me a BootCamp membership at CrossFit Toronto for my birthday.

Being a Mac person and a developer, I knew it was only a matter of time before I built something to help track my progress.

I started with a webapp that got dusty due to a lack of time. Luckily, this is not the case for the iPhone application, we’ve been actively developing this for a few months now.

We’ve called it As Rx’d and it’s in the approval process right now.

Here’s a shot of the Benchmark selection screen.

Excited? I hope so. Come and check it out at it’s page on RBS.

Update: You can check out the FAQ page here.

any way to ask questions before buying? a bit nervous about spending $10 since I've bought most of the ohter workout trackers that don't work well at all for crossfit. Any trials? refunds? if it works, I'll buy in a minute.

The Captcha function on your feedback form prevents using it.

The Captcha on the Roboboogie site? Doh, I'll take a look.

      What questions do you have?

      This app rocks…

      Thanks Dave!

Is there any way of adapting this app for CrossFit Football WODs other than creating Ad Hoc WODs?

    • tjweir 11:50 am on May 5, 2009 Permalink

      Hey Ashley,

What type of adaptations does CFFB need? Other than Quarter Gone Bad, are there other WODs just for CFFB?

We'll absolutely add features for CFFB, the next version after 1.1 will have some additions for CF Endurance.

      Thanks,
      Tyler

      Hi Garrett,

Yes it is. The recent versions have been solving a bug with data refreshing. By naming Ad-Hoc’s is right at the top of the to-do list.

      Thanks

    CrossFit: 2009/03/17

I’m in Austin for SxSW so I hit up CrossFit Central for a WOD.

    800m run, then
    4 rounds of:
    25 Push-ups
    25 Deadlifts @ 135#
    25 Double-Unders
    25 Sit-ups
    then 800m run.

I suck at running, but I banged out a 24:22.

CrossFit Central has a sweet facility and chilled trainers, great time.
I’m going to try and hit another WOD.

    CrossFit: 2009/03/10

After Sunday’s Heavy Thruster, I was a bit weak for these Front Squats.

    3-3-3
    185#-185#-190#

Nothing spectacular, based on the 90% of my 1 rep max (240#), I should have done 215#. It wasn’t going to happen.

With a running clock, on the minute do:
    - X KB swings (24kg)
    - X Double Unders
    - X push-ups

I lost the pace at 12 minutes. Once again, I thought “this looks ok” and had it turn out “I think I’m going to die.”

    1-1-1 of heavy Thruster

then 40 thrusters at 45# for time.

I’ve never done heavy thrusters, so I did 155#-175#-195#, I started a bit low.

Then 40 reps of 45# thrusters took 0:54.

CrossFit: 2009/02/28 – Level test fun fest

The last Saturday of each month is Level Testing at CFTO.

We weigh-in, hammer out a CrossFit Total and then a short met-con:
    Row 500m
    40 squats
    30 sit-ups
    20 push-ups
    10 pull-ups

    I scored a 745 in the Total, 240# Back Squat, 145# Shoulder Press and a 360# Deadlift.
My increased flexibility has led to uncertainty with my Back Squat weight, I threw 240# without a problem, so that’s a bit of poor planning on my part. Same thing for the Shoulder Press, I jumped from 145# to 155# and failed. I should have done 150#. I did add 5# to my Deadlift PR, so it wasn’t all a wash.

I hit 4:20 on the met-con. The standards are the highest, and I had to do a few push-ups over due to my chin not hitting the deck.

Oh, and I weighed in at 183.4#, which is a bit high I feel, I’d like to be 170-175#, stupid belly chub.

    CrossFit: 2009/02/26

    The grinder…

Every Minute, on the Minute, for 15 minutes (originally 20)
    - 5 DB Dead Lift
    - 5 DB Hang Power Cleans
    - 5 DB Thrusters

6 minutes with 40# DBs, and then I had to drop to 30# DBs for the remaining 9 minutes.
