Clay and I are wrapping up development on our first iPhone game.
We used Cocos2d-iPhone as the engine framework and it was great. It stays out of your way.
Game programming is epically fun.
An example of really interesting gameplay based on shadows, found via Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
Patrick Klepek (who I think is awesome from old 1UP podcasts) has a new podcast focused on iPhone games.
I hope he likes getting spammed, because there will be a flood of promo-codes coming his way.
We’ll be part of that flood. :)
Every since I bought SF4 I knew that the stock 360 controller wasn’t going to cut it.
So after a few conversations with Ryan , I broke down and bought some authentic Sanwa parts from Lizard Lick. (That’s a typo waiting to happen)
I picked up a Sanwa JLF-TP-8T Ball Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Way modes:

And 8 Sanwa OBSF-30 Pushbuttons:

My plan is to tear apart my current wired 360 controller for the PCB and harvest a bit of wood left over from the kitchen reno we recently completed.
Maybe I’ll prove to be better competition online. We’ll see.
If you’re looking for parts in Toronto, The Playdium Store has buttons and sticks, but I’d call first.
Awesome. Challenge!
Accepted! Bear in mind, I have no arcade stick, so I’ll feel the pain mostly.
wish you had a ps3 or me a 360 ;) can’t wait to see the arcade stick! the austin countdown begins!
WOOHOO!! Chun Li’s gonna bring the pain. Better watch out! (Note: this is all trash talk – I have no SF4 skills).
@Ry, we’ll have to settle this at the SxSW arcade!
@Laura, I *had* SF skills.
Repeat, had.
“Arcade pants”, AKA the pants you will be wearing for the next week straight while locked in your living room?
@Randy, I have no need for pants.

that’s hot… i think I need to play you now so there’s a control to measure against :)

@cc Sure, let’s set it up. You’ve got the new baby, so you pick the time.

can’t wait to see the final product!

you need to burn a picture of your face into the wood. that would make it quite …howdo the french say this… “full of le win”

You should put some cigarette burns on the joystick casing, for the authentic 80s-arcade feel. Maybe hire an angry, unshaven guy to stand in your living room changing quarters for bills.

@ry, yours too, I need to pick out some art, @clay’s suggestion will scare people.

Nice. Good thing you have some spare woods from your kitchen renovation. Care to share some pictures of your machine that's done?
